Methodology - a prescripton for achieving a goalAt NG Logic we always look tor the best methods to achieve our goals. Through our experience and research we came to value the right methodology used to produce the software as much as technology selection. We believe we can achieve significant efficiency gain by carefully choosing the method we perform our job. Currently there are two main methodology streams, namely predictive and adaptive methodologies. In the predictive ones, a full and detailed specification of the project is prepared in the paper form, including its exact design and schedule. Then it is executed according to the documents. In order to minimize the possibility of failure of project due to unexpected and unforeseen circumstances, risk management procedures are implemented. In the adaptive methods, only general plan is created at the beginning of the project and the rest of the design is done iteratively as the project advances though subsequent components. The iterations are short (week, month) and customer is engaged in the planning of each integration setting priorities and evaluating the job done. The requirements can change during the development and changes to the already completed parts are also welcomed. The choice of methodology depends largely on the project to be executed and its environment. When there is a requirement for strict documentation, repeatable development procedures or target system is to cooperate with large group of other systems, usually predictive methods are used as they allow to plan for all of the obstacles. On the other hand, if the project focuses on delivering the functionality in clean and adaptive way at low cost and in short period of time, adaptive methodologies are better suited. Please contact us if you want to check what method is the best for your project. |
